About Anti-Social
When work needs to get done, our friends are often our biggest distraction. The endless stream of Facebook posts and Tweets compete for our attention, robbing us of productivity. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to turn off your friends when you’re trying to get work done?
This is the inspiration behind Anti-Social, a neat little productivity application for Macs that turns off the social parts of the internet. Simply tell Anti-Social how long you’d like to be antisocial (up to 8 hours), and the software will lock you away from top social sites, as well as sites you specify, so you can get work done.
Anti-Social is an innovation in the fight against digital distraction. The first software I created to fight distraction, Freedom, is used by tens of thousands of people and has drawn coverage from the New York Times Magazine, Salon, The Guardian (UK), and others. Freedom works by locking you completely offline – a sure way to beat distraction, but often challenging for individuals who need to do online research as they work.
Anti-Social solves this problem, allowing you to do your online work, while preventing you from accessing top social sites. Anti-Social might be the best 15 bucks you’ll ever spend – you’ll be amazed what you can get done without the distraction of friends.
Because Anti-Social is built from the same codebase as Freedom, you can trust that it is completely safe to run. Anti-Social makes no permanent changes to your computer – if you need to get back on the social web, you may reboot your computer. The hassle of rebooting, combined with the increased productivity you’ll experience when you run Anti-Social provides a strong psychological barrier against cheating. Download the trial and check it out!

** Note: In previous versions, Youtube was blocked by default. This is no longer the case as a Youtube block would interrupt other Google services. If you would like to block Google, simply add “www.youtube.com” to the custom block list.
